The Pet is the eighth episode of CatDog from the first season.
Characters Present
Summary
Cat and Dog find a wounded cockroach at the dump, and Dog becomes attached to the bug.
Recap
CatDog are at the Nearburg dump. Dog is digging in the junk and finds a poor wounded cockroach and wants to nurse it back to health. At first, Cat refuses this request, but Dog begs and pleads to him until the sun comes down to take the roach home. Cat finally accepts, on the condition it only be for a week as by then the roach would be fully healed. Dog names his new found pet "Roachie". Cat finds himself at odds with the gross habits Dog partakes in with Roachie, especially as he would be caught in the middle of it, to the point he would break. Winslow suggests Cat buy and build an exterminator robot to take Roachie out, and not wanting to put up with him anymore, Cat would go for it.
While building the robot, the switch blows out and Cat attempts to get a new one off of a washing machine, only to fall in as it activates. Roachie would see Cat is in trouble and tries to convince Dog to help, which he eventually would. After he learns of what Roachie did, Cat admits how he felt about Roachie and feels guilty for it, but is met with forgiveness from both Dog and Roachie. The robot soon activates and chases them down, with Cat attempting and succeeding to recover the switch and shut the robot off.
The two would discover Roachie is homesick and reluctantly take him back to the dump, but upon returning home, they find the robot is active again and is now seeking CatDog. The two would run away, and it's revealed that Winslow gained control of the robot.
Trivia
- Goof: When Cat first tries to turn the exterminator on, he flips the switch to off instead. However later when he puts the switch back onto the robot, the switch is on "on"
